Luke 18:1-8
3 Reasons to pray persistently:
- Because God is the righteous judge (v. 6)
- cf. Psalm 86:8-13
- Application:
- God is concerned with the injustice in the world and in your life.
- We know God to whom we are praying.
- Because God promises to administer justice quickly (v. 7-8a)
- Application:
- Vengeance is the Lord’s
- God is faithful to deliver
- Question: what about the people that God chose not to deliver? (martyrs, etc)
- Purpose of this parable is to encourage the people to pray (v. 1)
- It is a parable
- We are living for a higher purpose than just our deliverance
- Polycarp
- Ultimately God will deliver us and administer perfect justice
- Application:
- Because prayer reflects your faith (v. 8b)
- There is a direct relationship between your faith and your prayer life.
- Application:
- Is you lack of a prayer life due to your lack of faith?
- Be a person in whom Jesus finds faith when he returns
