Your Kingdom Come

Today we have the privilege of hearing from Jarrett Luckett, Executive Director of Exploit No More. Jarrett is going to update us on what’s going on with ENM, the safe house, and what is being done to combat sex trafficking in our area. He will also be delivering a sermon on the importance of justice in the Kingdom of God.

Proverbs 31:9
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And administer justice for the afflicted and needy.

Isaiah 1:17
Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Justice: Making wrong things right

Justice is foundational to God’s Kingdom

Psalm 89:14
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.

Matthew 6:10
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom and He lived it

Matthew 4:23
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

Jesus: There is something wrong and I’m coming to fix it

Matthew 9:10-13
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Luke 17:20-21 NIV The Coming of the Kingdom of God

20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

Why Should I Care About Justice?
Because it is our responsibility

Matthew 17: 14-20 Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy
14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” 17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Proverbs 31:9
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And administer justice for the afflicted and needy.
