Hello there, my name is John Adams and I’m the teaching pastor here at LifeBridge Church. I’m the guy you hear from most Sundays. Ironically, I’m more of a quiet guy and don’t particularly like public speaking. God has a sense of humor, I guess, in calling me to be a pastor. That said I love what I do.
My wife, Savanna, and I have been married for 13 years and each year together brings new adventures, joys and depths to our relationship. Savanna is the one you most often find tickling the ol’ ivories on the worship band. She is incredibly talented, wise, and driven. We have two children. Shiloh, 11, is a social butterfly who just “loves people”, to quote him. He also loves playing soccer like Messi, gaming, and all things dogs. Elora (Ellie), 9, is full of life that seems to light up the world around her. She loves to dance and sing, play sports and collect ALL of the Squishmallows. If you arrive early to church you may get to enjoy a game of Squishmallow baseball in the hallway!
Apart from church and family, I’m often knee deep in a house project that either needed to be done or Savanna talked me into. Would I drive to Texas for brisket? Yes, yes I would. I also Iove to play basketball and watch sports. I like to think of myself as a reasonable Chicago sports fan. Reasonable in the sense that I still like the Bears but I know that this new quarterback is likely not the guy. I've seen this film before, and I’ve been hurt too many times to get my hopes up. As a Chicago sports fan that means I’ve had a rough 8 years. But the Cubs World Series in 2016 is still carrying me!
In terms of my career background, my Bachelors degree is in physical therapy. I didn't get very far into the field so please don’t ask me what to do with your messed up back! I have my Masters in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In 2014 I helped plant LifeBridge Church. I dearly love the people of LifeBridge and Burlington to whom God has graciously called me to minister. It’s a great privilege and joy to shepherd God’s people in the glorious gospel of Jesus.
